LOGISMOS |
Thoughtful Reflection |
Welcome to Logismos
Let's talk about life and important life issues. Why does life seem so busy and frustrating? Why does life stink sometimes? Will my life always have to be this way? Who can answer my questions about life?
Logismos (log iss moss´) is a Greek word which means, "reasoning, reflection, thought." It is closely related to the word logikos which means, "rational, reasonable." The English word logic comes from this word. So a good definition for logismos would be "reasonable thought" or "thoughtful reflection." Our purpose is to encourage thoughtful reflection about life.
Life Is Too Busy!
Life is hectic. We're always in a hurry; always pushed for time. We're too busy to slow down and reflect on the most important questions of life. Isn't there more to life than an endless treadmill existence? Are we no better off than hamsters running in place? Are we destined to an eternal rat race: get up in the morning, go to work, eat, try to have some fun, sleep, get back up the next morning, go to work...?
What Are Some of Those Important Life Questions?
- Who am I?
- Where did I come from?
- Why am I here?
- Where am I going?
- Why don't I feel right?
And, of course, there are many other questions about personal health, financial security, social status, relationships...and the list goes on. Can we take some time to think through these issues? Or will we stay too busy trying to live life before we find some time to start thinking about the meaning of it all?
Who Could Answer Our Questions About Life?
Who would be most qualified to answer questions about life? How about a person who claimed he would conquer death, and then did? How about a person whose death was certified by experts, and then was observed to be alive by more than 500 people over the course of 40 days following the declaration of his death? What if the evidence for his resurrection was so convincing that no one has been able to disprove it in nearly 2000 years? What if thousands of people have given their lives because of their loyalty and devotion to this person? Would such a person be able to answer your questions about life?
Yes! Such a Person Could Answer Our Questions About Life
This person is Jesus. He is Jesus Christ. It is not our purpose to debate the existence of God, nor the reliability of the Bible. We'll leave that up to those who specialize in those sorts of things. However, it is important to understand that Jesus Christ endorsed the scriptures by quoting from them routinely. We will devote our time of reflection on what the Bible has to say about important life issues.
